I created these guys as a trio of worms on a single triangle. Much later, when I extended them as seen here, I realized that I had re-created, in 6 heads-together worms, a pattern which, if I recall correctly, was used as an interlocking octopus pattern by Cretan potters and perhaps others of the Minoan and/or Mycenean cultures . I remember wondering, when I was studying the history of pottery many years ago, why these Cretans gave their octopuses only six arms. Now I see it was not a whim, but rather a geometric exigency. One well covered by "Artistic License" I'd say.
